Impending Doom Sunday

After the blissful Forget That You Travel Saturday you wake up on Impending Doom Sunday realizing that you have to repeat the travel cycle all over again. I understand that most people have a sense of impending doom about work the next day, but it's likely that they don’t have to get on a plane the next morning. Due to the travel factor, Sunday becomes the shortest and busiest day of the week. You start out the morning by getting your roller board carry-on that you put away in the tiny hall closet on Work From Home Friday and then sit it out in the middle of your studio apartment. This becomes an obstacle as it is blocking the one open space in your apartment. It also serves as a constant reminder that you aren’t done packing up your crap for the week ahead. Usually the roller board carry-on will sit, unpacked and empty, for the rest of the day--mocking you and your evil habit of procrastination. You’ll go about the rest of your day…brunch, gym, mani/pedi, sitting on your couch…and the ENTIRE day you’ll think, I have to go home and pack up my crap for the week ahead. So, the day will pass with a pit in your stomach that you haven’t packed and that you will be waking up the next morning at 4am for Travel Day Monday. This pit grows and grows as the day goes on. You’ll cancel plans for Sunday night because you have convinced yourself that you should stay home and pack…Extreme Home Make-over rolls around…come on, come on, pack before Grey’s…you’ll start to pack during Grey’s and then things heat up between McDreamy and Merry…you’ll stop packing to watch and justify it by saying, I work in a hospital, I should pay full attention….it’s now 11pm…you still haven’t packed and realized that your clothes are at the dry cleaners or that you’re out of B&B Prep Spray AND Mario Seaweed Cleanser…but, it’s now midnight and you’re so tired that all you want to do is go to crawl into your own bed because for the next few days you’ll be at a hotel, but you realize you have to call Vital to make a reservation for a car for pick- up at 5am. Ugh. You start to panic and with panic comes over packing. You throw a whole bunch of stuff that you’ll never wear during the week into your carry-on. You’re finally done with packing and can go to sleep. You realize that when you wake up in four short hours that it will be Travel Day Monday.

Safe travels,
Jammahs
